Delete Your Account & Data

We respect your right to control your data. This page explains how to delete your PrayerNexus account and associated data, and what happens when you do.

1. Delete Your Account In the App (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly within PrayerNexus:

1Open PrayerNexus

2Open the Profile tab, then tap Settings

3Scroll down to the Account section

4Tap "Delete My Account"

5Confirm deletion in the two confirmation dialogs

Your account and all cloud data will be deleted immediately and automatically.

2. Delete Your Account via Email (Fallback)

If you've already uninstalled the app or can't access the in-app option, send an email to:

Subject line: PrayerNexus Account Deletion Request

Please include the email address associated with your Google sign-in so we can locate your account.

We will process your request within 14 business days and send you a confirmation email once complete.

3. What Gets Deleted

When you request account deletion, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:

Your Firebase Authentication account — the record tying your Google sign-in to PrayerNexus, including your email, display name, and user ID
Prayer Group membership — your membership in all groups you've joined
Shared prayer requests — prayer items you added to groups
"I prayed for this" activity — your prayer activity on group items
Groups you created — if you are the sole admin, the group and all its data will be deleted. If there are other members, the longest-tenured member is promoted to Admin before you leave.

Firebase Analytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging data associated with your app installation is tied to a randomly generated app-instance ID, not to your account. It is not personally identifying; it is automatically aged out by Google per its default retention (currently 14 months). Uninstalling the App resets this identifier.

4. What Is NOT Affected

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is not part of the server-side deletion:

Personal prayer items, journal entries, and voice transcriptions
Gratitude entries and photos
Answered prayer testimonies
Gamification progress (XP, level, streaks, achievements)
App settings and preferences

To delete local data, go to your Android Settings, find PrayerNexus under Apps, and select "Clear Data", or simply uninstall the app.

5. Delete Local Data Only (Without Deleting Your Account)

If you want to clear your local data but keep your Prayer Groups account active:

1Open your device's Settings app

2Navigate to Apps (or Apps & notifications)

3Find and tap PrayerNexus

4Tap Storage & cache, then Clear storage

This removes all locally stored prayers, gratitude entries, gamification progress, and settings. Your Prayer Groups membership will remain intact and resync when you next sign in.

6. Data Retention After Deletion

Once we process your deletion request:

Your data is removed from our active Firebase database immediately.
Cached copies on other group members' devices will be cleared on their next sync.
Google may retain encrypted backups for up to 180 days as part of their standard infrastructure, after which they are permanently purged. See Firebase Privacy Documentation for details.
